Little Rock, Arkansas – According to the agency, the major directing operations at the Headquarters Division of the Little Rock Police Department is set to become the next assistant chief of police.
Major Michael “Joe” Miller will be promoted to assistant chief of the department. Miller will fill the role that was previously held by Crystal Young-Haskins who left the department in June to “pursue a career opportunity outside of the state of Arkansas.”
Haskins was serving as interim police chief after Chief Keith Humphrey retired on May 20. Miller joined the department in October 2000, according to the LRPD website. From there, he worked his way up from recruit to sergeant to lieutenant.
According to the police website, Miller has received multiple civilian and supervisor commendations, as well as, the Department Life Saving Award and the Chief Lawrence Johnson Leadership Award.
