Fort Smith strengthens international relationship with Łask, Poland, through Friendship Pact and F-35 partnership

Fort Smith, Ark. – The City of Fort Smith announced that its relationship with the Polish city of Łask has taken another step forward following the signing of a Friendship Pact between the two communities.

Mayor George McGill recently traveled to Łask, Poland, where he participated in the signing ceremony and attended an event marking the arrival of Poland’s first F-35 aircraft.

City officials said the partnership is rooted in the F-35 pilot training mission at Ebbing Air National Guard Base, where Polish pilots and personnel continue to train alongside military partners.

“It was an honor to receive an invitation from Poland’s Minister of National Defense and the Mayor of Łask to participate in this historic event,” McGill said.

“Fort Smith’s selection as the home of the F-35 training mission has elevated the city’s international profile and created opportunities to build meaningful partnerships with allied nations around the world.”

According to the city, the Friendship Pact establishes a framework for future cooperation and cultural exchange between Fort Smith and Łask. Officials said the agreement also highlights Fort Smith’s role in strengthening international relationships through the F-35 training mission.

The city said the partnership is expected to support continued collaboration and foster stronger ties between the two communities in the years ahead.
