Single-Vehicle Accident Knocks Out Power to Over 200 in Fort Smith

FORT SMITH, Ark. — A single-vehicle accident in Fort Smith caused significant disruption Monday morning after the vehicle collided with a utility pole, knocking out power to more than 200 residents in the area.

According to the Fort Smith Police Department, the accident occurred near the intersection of North 2nd Street and North D Street. The collision damaged a utility pole, which led to the power outage, affecting 221 people, according to OG&E.

The utility company has been notified and is working to restore power, though no estimated time for repairs has been provided as of now.

In the meantime, police are advising drivers to avoid the area until the scene is cleared, as emergency crews work to address the situation.

The cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed, and no injuries have been reported at this time. Authorities are continuing to investigate.
