Little Rock Zoo plans celebration for World Lemur Day Oct. 29

Little Rock, Arkansas – On October 29, World Lemur Day, there will be special activities at the Little Zoo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The zoo’s lemur habitat will be the site of planned special events to celebrate the lemur’s distinctive qualities. On that Saturday, general entry includes access to World Lemur Day events.

Waving a smell in the direction of buddies is one activity. This celebrates lemurs that flick or waft a fragrance in the direction of their competitors.

On that day, a jumping game will also be set up. This is a tribute to the lemur species that can jump up to 10 feet or more.

Off the coast of Africa, in Madagascar, lemurs first appeared. The roughly 100 species are all considered to be vulnerable or endangered.
