Where to go and how to participate in Earth Day activities in central Arkansas this year

Little Rock, Arkansas – A lot is happening in central Arkansas to celebrate Earth Day, which will be celebrated on April 22 for the 53rd time since its creation.

The incident started in 1970 as environmental harm became more widely recognized, first appearing on a few college campuses. Since then, Earth Day’s scope and scale have expanded.

According to official data, more than 190 nations will commemorate Earth Day in 2023, and more than 1 billion people will mobilize globally.

The Natural State is one of the numerous locations celebrating Earth Day, with activities taking place all around the state offering everyone a chance to do an eco-friendly action.

A cleanup is taking on at Pinnacle Mountain State Park. The park is seeking volunteers to join them in celebrating the day by pledging to spend at least 30 minutes improving the park. Once there, your group will be given a task and a location, as well as any equipment required to participate in the day’s activities.

Naturally, Keep Arkansas Beautiful points out that cleanups aren’t limited to Earth Day, even though it has a huge list of cleanup events scheduled for April 22 across the state, including those in state parks.

Alternatively, you may go hiking. An Earth Day hike will be guided by a park ranger from Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area who will discuss the forest and its advantages. The half-mile Ozark Plateau Trail is ADA-accessible and used for the hike.

Party for the Planet, a series of Earth Day festivities, is being held at the Little Rock Zoo. Beginning at 8:30 am, volunteers will clean up the entire zoo. Then, from 9 a.m. to noon, the city’s Sustainability Office and Keep Little Rock Beautiful will host a recycling drop-off event in the zoo parking lot.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the zoo will also offer Earth Day-themed activity stations where visitors can learn about conservation and conserving the environment. Check out the entries for the zoo’s Recycled Art Contest at this time.

The city of Little Rock will conclude National Volunteer Week with an Earth Day event to plant flowers in Riverfront Park at 9 a.m.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Central Arkansas Library System will be holding a celebration at its Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library. How to bring nature to your yard will be covered in presentations at the Naturally Arkansas: Bringing Nature to Your Yard event.

Additionally, the CALS Children’s Library is hosting an open house in its teaching garden and greenhouse with additional gardening suggestions.
