Little Rock, Arkansas – While most kids’ first days were on Monday, a very unique teacher’s first day was also her final.
Wanda Ruffins, the principal of Cloverdale Middle School, undoubtedly wasn’t prepared for the response she received on Monday, but she surely deserved it.
This is due to Ruffins’ announcement that she will retire at the end of the current school year after 42 years as a teacher.
“I’m gonna miss the face pace of the day. I’m gonna miss my parents, my students and my faculty,” Ruffins said. “They’ve become family.”
Little Rock students have a good first day back at school.
Tipton and Hurst presented Ruffins with a bouquet of flowers and a gift basket in appreciation for her decades of service.

Of her 41 years working as a teacher. She worked as a principal for 37 of them.
