Little Rock, Arkansas – A pronoun policy for the district’s workers has been passed by the North Little Rock School Board.
According to the new policy, staff members must only address students by their legal names and by pronouns that correspond to their biological sexes.
There are, though, exceptions for pupils who are 18 years of age or older and for those who have a parent’s or legal guardian’s written consent.
The purpose of the policy is to guarantee that staff won’t experience any repercussions for declining to use a person’s preferred name or pronoun.
The regulation will go effective on July 1.
