Little Rock, Arkansas – On Wednesday, Washington County authorities verified that certain human remains discovered a week earlier corresponded to an individual who had vanished from sight in 2020.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook that on November 16, just after 2:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a probable human remains site in the county’s southern region.
Upon arriving and discovering the bone remains, the deputies informed the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriff’s Office.
After a preliminary inquiry established the identity of the human remains, the remains were gathered and submitted to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock for definite identification, cause, and manner of death determinations.
The state crime lab verified on Wednesday that Brandon Barron was the owner of the remains. Barron vanished in 2020, according per the authorities’ records.
According to the sheriff’s office, the inquiry is still ongoing.
