Little Rock, ARK – As a winter storm approaches Little Rock, residents are flocking to grocery stores to stock up on essential supplies in anticipation of hazardous weather conditions. Shoppers are preparing for potential snow, icy roads, and power outages, leading to crowded stores and empty shelves.
At Edwards Food Giant, the scene has been hectic for several days, according to Steve Edwards, the store’s special projects manager. “We’ve been busy leading up to the storm, and it’s only getting busier,” Edwards said. The rush for meat, milk, bread, and other staples has resulted in long lines, full parking lots, and shelves cleared of popular items.
Shoppers shared their experiences, describing the urgency of their visits. One customer explained, “It’s very last minute shopping. I have a rear-wheel drive and I won’t be able to go anywhere once the snow hits.” Another shopper noted the chaotic atmosphere inside the store, saying, “It’s pretty crazy, it’s pretty hectic. You would think the apocalypse was coming. Just stay put, stay safe, and be ready.”
In response to the growing demand, Edwards Food Giant plans to stay open as long as it is safe for employees and customers to travel. However, the store is prepared to adjust operations as weather conditions worsen.
As the storm approaches, many residents are bracing for potentially dangerous conditions, emphasizing the importance of being prepared and staying safe during the severe weather.
