Gas Prices on the Rise in Arkansas Amid Crude Oil Price Increases

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Gas prices in Arkansas have seen a slight uptick, according to the latest report from AAA. The average price for a gallon of regular gas in the state has risen to $2.72, an increase of 1 cent from the previous week. This marks a 9-cent rise compared to the same time last year.

AAA officials attribute the increase in gas prices to a corresponding rise in crude oil prices, which have jumped by $6 a barrel since the beginning of 2025. As a result, experts suggest that gas prices may continue to climb as the month progresses, potentially reaching higher levels by the end of January.

While the state’s average price is on the rise, central Arkansas is seeing slightly lower prices. Drivers in Pine Bluff are paying an average of $2.67 per gallon, while Little Rock-North Little Rock is at $2.69, and Hot Springs at $2.71.

Franklin County, located in the northwest part of the state, has the lowest average price in Arkansas at $2.59 per gallon. In contrast, Lafayette County, located in the southwest, is experiencing the highest prices in the state, with an average of $2.98 per gallon.

Despite these recent increases, gas prices remain far below the record-high levels reached in June 2022, when the state’s average hit $4.52 per gallon.

Nationally, the average price for a gallon of gasoline stands at $3.10, with California leading the nation at $4.42 per gallon. Mississippi has the lowest average in the country at $2.67 per gallon.

As crude oil prices continue to fluctuate, drivers in Arkansas and across the nation will be watching closely to see how gas prices evolve in the coming weeks.
