Fort Smith, Ark. – Captain Josh Edwards of the Fort Smith Fire Department has been recognized for his outstanding commitment to public service, receiving the City’s Spirit of Service Award from Mayor George McGill.
Beyond his duties as a firefighter, Edwards plays a vital role in education and training. He instructs EMS personnel, teaches aerial ladder courses, and oversees the department’s continuing education program for medical training.
His dedication extends into the community, where he provides CPR training at local churches and for foster families, and mentors high school students pursuing careers in emergency services.
Edwards’ expertise was recently put to the test when he saved the life of a fellow EMS professional experiencing a severe anaphylactic reaction. His swift action and leadership exemplify the values of the Fort Smith Fire Department.
