Fort Smith, Ark. – The City of Fort Smith, Arkansas, has announced a change in its payment policy, which will take effect on March 1, 2025.

Beginning on that date, the city will no longer absorb the cost of transaction and processing fees for payments made via credit and debit cards. Instead, these fees will be passed on to the payer at the time of the transaction.

The move is designed to streamline the payment process and ensure fairness for all taxpayers, especially as the use of electronic payments continues to grow.

The City of Fort Smith encourages residents to explore these alternative payment methods to avoid the processing fees, which will apply to credit and debit card transactions starting in March 2025.
