Bruce T. Moore, the manager of Little Rock City, passes away at age 57

Little Rock, Arkansas – The City of Little Rock declared on Saturday morning the passing of city manager Bruce T. Moore. His age was fifty-seven.

In his Little Rock residence, Moore reportedly died away quietly throughout the night, according to a city statement. As of right now, no cause of death has been identified.

According to the city, Moore started working for the Little Rock government more than 35 years ago, initially as an intern and later as the mayor’s and city manager’s assistant.

Moore was the chief administrative officer, chosen by the mayor and board of directors, and the main advisor to the governing body regarding all operational issues in his capacity as city manager. He also oversaw the creation of the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Center and Park in Little Rock’s downtown as the head of the city staff. He also played a key role in organizing the celebrations for Little Rock Central High School’s integration on its 40th, 50th, and 60th anniversaries.

On Moore’s passing, the city of Little Rock issued a statement.

“City Manager Moore was the longest-serving city manager in Little Rock history. During his time in service to the residents of Little Rock, City Manager Moore personified servant leadership,” a city official stated. “He earned awards and accolades from across the country and around the world for his effective management, organization, and expertise. He was dedicated to improving the City of Little Rock and to making life better for 2,500 municipal employees and for the residents and visitors to the state’s Capital City. He will be greatly missed.”

El Dorado native Moore earned a bachelor’s degree from Henderson State University and a master’s degree in public administration from Arkansas State University, according to the city. He was a member of the fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi and served his country in Operation Desert Storm as an Army reservist. Luke Thomas Moore, his son, and Siobhan Osborne, his fiancée, survive him.

It was reported that in honor of City Manager Moore, Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. has ordered all flags in the city to fly at half-staff until further notice.
