Arkansas – An Arkansas man was sentenced earlier this week to 35 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections following his conviction for second-degree murder in connection with the death of Dorothy Edmonds.
The investigation began on March 16, 2025, when officers responded to a residence in the 1500 block of South 11th Street to assist EMS with a medical call.
Upon arrival, officers found Edmonds deceased inside the home, prompting a homicide investigation by the Fort Smith Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.
During the investigation, the Arkansas man was identified as a suspect and later confessed to his involvement in Edmonds’ death. He was subsequently arrested and formally charged in the case.
Davis told investigators he was off his medication at the time of the incident, according to court documents.
The Fort Smith Police Department credited the Sebastian County Prosecutor’s Office for its role in bringing the case to a resolution.
Officials said the case reflects the department’s continued commitment, along with its partners, to seek justice for victims and their families.
