Arkansas Highway Commission announces applications for transportation and recreational trail grants

Arkansas – The Arkansas Highway Commission has opened applications for the Arkansas Transportation Alternatives Program and the Arkansas Recreational Trails Program, which provide federal grant funding for local transportation and recreation projects.

Both programs operate on a reimbursable basis.

Virtual seminars on TAP and RTP requirements will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, and Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

TAP funding supports non-motorized transportation infrastructure, including sidewalks, bicycle facilities, pedestrian crossings, Safe Routes to School projects, and environmental mitigation activities.

RTP funding covers improvements to motorized and non-motorized trails, as well as trailhead facilities and linkages.

These federal funds cannot be used for highway improvements.
