Arkansas – Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has amended Proclamation DR 24-03 to allocate funding for recovery efforts following the severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that impacted the state on March 14, 2024.
The amendment, outlined in Executive Order 25-04, authorizes $19,388.57 from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund to assist affected communities.
According to the governor’s office, the severe weather event caused significant hardship and damage to both public and private properties, prompting the need for state-level intervention.
The proclamation, initially signed on May 6, 2024, recognized the widespread impact of the storms and provided state resources for relief efforts.
The newly authorized funds will be used under the Public Assistance Program at the discretion of the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management.
The allocation is intended to cover both program-related expenses and administrative costs associated with disaster response and recovery efforts.
Governor Sanders emphasized the importance of the funding in helping communities rebuild. “The affected political subdivisions require supplemental assistance from the state to recover from these losses,” the order states.
The declaration underscores the state’s ongoing commitment to disaster recovery, ensuring that local governments and agencies have the necessary resources to address damage and support residents in rebuilding efforts. The amendment was officially signed and enacted on March 13, 2025.
