Arkansas – Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed an executive order on April 10, 2026, authorizing additional funding to support recovery efforts following severe storms and tornadoes that impacted the state on or about May 8, 2024.
The order, EO 26-08, amends a previous disaster declaration, DR 24-05, which was issued on June 10, 2024. The amendment allows for $41,598.49 to be allocated from the Governor’s Disaster Response and Recovery Fund to assist affected communities.
According to the order, the storms caused widespread danger, hardship, and damage to both residents and public property across Arkansas. State officials said the impacted areas continue to face challenges related to recovery, prompting the need for additional financial support.
The funding will be distributed through the Public Assistance Program and will be used to cover both program-related and administrative expenses. The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management will oversee the use of the funds, with its director authorized to determine how the money is allocated based on current needs.
Officials stated that local governments and political subdivisions affected by the storms requested supplemental assistance from the state to help address ongoing recovery costs. The additional funding is intended to support those efforts and help communities continue rebuilding.
Governor Sanders signed the order under the authority granted by Arkansas law governing emergency management and disaster response. The executive order took effect on April 10, 2026.
