BERRYVILLE, Ark. — A fire broke out at the Tyson Foods plant in Berryville on the evening of January 15, resulting in more than a dozen firefighters being treated for chemical burns. The fire started around 7 p.m., with local firefighting crews quickly responding to the scene.
According to Carroll County Judge David Writer, the fire was contained by crews just before 10 p.m., preventing it from spreading further. The cause and exact origin of the blaze remain under investigation, as authorities have yet to release details.
Despite the dangerous conditions, no workers at the plant appear to have been injured during the incident. However, the chemical nature of the fire led to the injuries of several firefighters, who were treated for burns as a result of exposure to hazardous materials.
The plant, which processes poultry products, was not operational at the time of the fire, and no additional information about the damage or potential impact on operations has been made available.
Local authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire, and Tyson Foods has yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
