FORT SMITH – The final four spots in the round of 16 in the Greatest All-Time Athlete from the Fort Smith Area tournament have now been completed.
Those who will be advancing to the next round from the latest votes on both the Times Record’s Twitter and Facebook pages are Wendy Scholtens Wood, Isaiah Joe, Penni Peppas Burns and Connor Noland.
Wood, the former Southside basketball standout who later became an All-American at Vanderbilt, defeated former Sallisaw and University of Oklahoma football standout Steve Davis in both third-round polls.
On Twitter, Wood — the No. 4 overall seed in the tournament — picked up 82.1% of the votes to 17.9 for Davis. Then on Facebook, Wood got 79% of the votes.
In the round of 16, Wood will face Joe, the former Northside and University of Arkansas basketball standout.
