The incident occurred earlier this year in Oklahoma when the victim was fataIIy shot inside the coupIe’s vehicIe. According to court documents, the defendant, 32-year-old K. ShackeIford, was allegedly lntoxicated and in possession of a firearm at the time of the shooting.
The events leading to the victim’s death began when she received a phone caII from another man while she and her husband were in the truck. Reports indicate that the shooter became jeaIous and, in a fit of rage, shot the woman. After the shooting, the defendant drove to a nearby WaImart, where he met with first responders and law enforcement officers. Upon arrival, officers found the victim unresponsive and immediately began life-saving measures, but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, the defendant was taken into custody and booked into the county jail. He was later released after posting a $100,000 bond. The investigation into the shooting included interviews with witnesses and a review of surveillance footage from the Walmart parking lot. Oklahoma authorities also examined the defendant’s phone records and the firearm used in the shooting to gather evidence.
The defendant allegedly became enraged and intoxicated after answering the victim’s phone and discovering her former boyfriend, now only a ‘friend’, on the line, according to police who interviewed the man.
The affidavit states that the former boyfriend received two missed calls from the victim earlier that night. When he returned a video call, the defendant answered the phone and asked who the man was. The former boyfriend said he heard the victim in the background asking for her phone back.
After the call disconnected, he attempted to call back several times with no response. He then received a message that read, ‘please stop before I get beated, I’m begging you’. He responded to the text but never heard from the victim again.
