Fayetteville, Ark. — The University of Arkansas Police Department (UAPD) is currently investigating a reported rape that occurred on Monday, January 20, at the Maple Hill South residential hall, according to a statement released by UAPD.
The crime log entry provides limited information, and UAPD Assistant Chief Matt Mills emphasized that no further details could be disclosed at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation.
“We are actively looking into the matter and will release more information when we are able,” Mills said.
In the wake of the reported assault, Mills recommended several resources for students who may be impacted by the incident. He specifically directed students to the University of Arkansas’ Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), located at the Pat Walker Health Center. CAPS offers a range of services, including individual and group counseling, as well as case management. Most services are covered by the Student Health and Wellness Fee.
For students seeking immediate assistance, CAPS provides 24/7 emergency mental health services.
Additionally, Mills encouraged students to reach out to U of A Cares, an office that offers referrals, resources, and support for student well-being and academic success. Students can contact U of A Cares through an online system available around the clock, or via phone and email.
The UAPD continues to investigate the reported crime, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
The University of Arkansas has committed to providing support for those affected by the incident and ensuring the safety and well-being of the campus community.
