Two 18-year-olds arrested after investigation into vehicle break-ins in Fort Smith and Van Buren

Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department has arrested multiple individuals following an investigation into a series of vehicle break-ins reported in Fort Smith and Van Buren.

According to police, investigators learned of several vehicle break-ins that occurred overnight on May 28, 2026. During the investigation, detectives used FLOCK license plate recognition (LPR) technology to identify a vehicle believed to be connected to the incidents. Investigators determined the vehicle was located in Fort Smith.

Patrol officers later located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, which led to charges being filed against multiple individuals.

Police said 18-year-old Autumn Corley and 18-year-old Genesis Lopez were arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Additional charges were filed against juvenile suspects in connection with the vehicle break-ins. Because juveniles were involved, the department said no further identifying information will be released.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as detectives continue to review the case.

The Fort Smith Police Department is reminding residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables from plain view, and report suspicious activity to law enforcement.
