The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law would provide $785 million to Arkansas for infrastructure improvements

Little Rock, Arkansas – Arkansas will receive $785 million in Fiscal Year 2024 from the Federal Highway Administration of the U.S. Department of Transportation for 12 formula programs that promote workforce development and investments in vital infrastructure.

Through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law of 2021, the money are accessible.

“Long-needed major improvements are coming to America’s network of roads, bridges, and highways,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

The Projects include:

• National Highway Performance Program $400,935,968
• Surface Transportation Block Grant $195,049,931
• Highway Safety Improvement Program $41,364,242
• Railway-Highway Crossings Program $4,099,981
• Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality Program $13,959,189
• Metropolitan Planning $2,358,111
• National Highway Freight Program $18,680,926

• PROTECT Formula Program $19,775,896
• National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program $11,527,783
• Bridge Formula Program $60,161,625

“Thanks to President Biden, we are proud to deliver funding to modernize roads and bridges across America–strengthening our supply chains, creating good-paying jobs, and connecting Americans to every corner of this country,” said Buttigieg.

According to the press release, the law represents the single largest devoted investment in our transportation system since the Interstate Highway System’s development in the 1950s and 1960s.

“These historic investments in American infrastructure give States the flexibility they need to determine how to allocate funds for a range of transportation projects such as improving safety for all road users, replacing aging bridges, and reducing carbon emissions,” said Federal Highway Administrator Shailen Bhatt. “This funding will allow States to continue the important work of President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that is making our infrastructure safer and more efficient for the millions of Americans who rely on it to get to school, work, and other important destinations every day.”

The third year of funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Fiscal Year 2024, will get $61 billion in funding. Compared to Fiscal Year 2021, the last fiscal year before the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law was put into effect, this is an increase of $17.6 billion in formula programs. Every year, FHWA distributes cash under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law according to formulas specified by Congress.
