Fort Smith, Ark. – State officials released a statement, saying that the modifications were developed in response to public comments from the Location and Design Public meeting, held August 24, 2023.
The Arkansas Department of Transportation initiated the Highway 10 Improvements Study in 2013. The Study evaluated the need for improvements to approximately 8.5 miles of Highway 10 between Ferndale Cutoff Road and Pleasant Valley Drive. These improvements were programmed under Job 061382 and were evaluated in an Environmental Assessment. The Federal Highway Administration approved the EA on July 22, 2022. A Finding of No Significant Impact document was signed by FHWA, approving the EA, on August 23, 2023.
The purpose of this project is to relieve traffic congestion and enhance safety for all roadway users. This project will complete the needed improvements outlined in Highway 10 Improvement Study between Taylor Loop Road and Pleasant Ridge Road.
