Little Rock, Arkansas – The Pine Bluff School District declared on Friday that they had received local power back from the Arkansas Board of Education.
Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Barabree expressed gratitude for the board’s choice, according to posts from the district on Facebook.
“I could not be more proud of our students, school team, community, parents, and school board,” Barabree stated. “This is a new day for PBSD. Now, our real work begins. Our only focus is on our students and their success. With their success, we succeed.”
According to Department of Education documents from 2018, the Pine Bluff School District was deemed to be in financial difficulty. As a result, the state board of education decided to fire the superintendent and school board, and the district was given state control.
