Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting near Carlisle identified as Michigan man wanted for armed carjacking and kidnapping

Arkansas – The Arkansas State Police has identified the suspect involved in a fatal officer-involved shooting on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, as Felipe Millan-Gomez, 33, of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Millan-Gomez was the subject of a multi-state manhunt following an armed carjacking and kidnapping incident that occurred on Monday, June 9, in Manistee County, Michigan.

Authorities allege that Millan-Gomez threatened a woman with a handgun, forced her to drive against her will, and then took control of her vehicle. Law enforcement had considered him armed and dangerous.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 11, ASP Troopers and officers with the U.S. Marshals Service located Millan-Gomez traveling on Interstate 40 East near the 180-mile marker, roughly one mile west of Carlisle. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, Millan-Gomez exited and reportedly brandished a weapon. Troopers responded by firing on the suspect, fatally striking him.

Millan-Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene. His body will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for examination.

The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation into the shooting. Once completed, the case file will be submitted to the Lonoke County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to determine whether the use of lethal force was justified under Arkansas law.
