Suspect in custody after shooting in Little Rock Friday morning

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A police officer was around the area of S. Gains Street and 26th Street.

While patrolling this area, the officer was stopped by a woman stating she was just shot at.

The officer placed this female, identified as Rikki Ratcliff, in her vehicle in an attempt to gain more information regarding the shooting. While transporting Ms. Ratcliff, she pointed out a house at 2924 S. Gains Street where the shooting took place.

A person then exited this house requesting medical attention for a male subject who was shot inside the residence. Officers later entered the residence and found a male upstairs suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced the victim, Jeremy Bonds, as deceased.

The house at 2924 S. Gains Street and surrounding area was marked off with crime scene tape as officers and detectives began investigating. Ms. Ratcliff as well as the occupants of this residence were transported to the Major Crimes Division to be interviewed by detectives.

Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and began performing a neighborhood canvas. Detectives sought a search warrant for the residence before entering to collect anything of evidentiary value.

CSSU responded to the scene and began processing it to collect evidence. A person of interest in this incident, Keith Farr Jr. later arrived at the 12th Street Station and was interviewed by homicide detectives.

During the interview, detectives established Mr. Farr had been in possession of a firearm and was charged with Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons.

This homicide investigation is ongoing after a self-defense claim was made by Mr. Farr at his residence. The Pulaski County Coroners Office responded and transported Mr. Bonds’ body to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy. This investigation is ongoing and the next of kin has been notified. Upon the completion of the criminal investigation and further investigation into the self-defense claim, this case will be submitted to the Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review. This Homicide occurred in Little Rock’s 12th Street Division.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. Officers were on patrol when they say a woman told them she was shot at. Officers say they searched the area and found a man in a home on the 2900 block of S. Gaines Street dead from a gunshot wound.

“Really the information we have about the situation is limited,” said Officer Eric Barnes. “We’re not sure what developed, happened beforehand, or if there was any struggle between him, or really what the circumstances are.”

At this time, police don’t know who the victim is or who shot him.

“We’re talking to some people who are at the residence as well as the woman who stopped us,” Barnes added.

Police say they’re still investigating to see if the woman who was shot at has any connection to the murder victim.

The shooting happened after 8 a.m., police say.
