Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT), in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration, has begun a formal consultation process regarding a draft Historic Bridges Programmatic Agreement.
ARDOT is inviting federal agencies, Federally recognized Indian tribes, state agencies and organizations, as well as city and county entities to participate in the consultation and provide comments on the proposed agreement.
The department is also encouraging additional consulting parties and members of the public to review the draft and submit feedback.
According to ARDOT, the agreement is intended to comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and its implementing regulations under 36 CFR Part 800, which govern the protection of historic properties.
The document also outlines ARDOT’s procedures for managing and preserving historic bridges across the state.
The draft agreement is available online for public review, and comments will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Individuals may submit comments through ARDOT’s online comment form or by printing the form and mailing it to the Environmental Division, P.O. Box 2261, Little Rock, AR 72203-2261.
