Single-engine plane disaster near Fayetteville claimed one life

Little Rock, Arkansas – According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a guy from Tontitown perished on Friday night after his jet crashed southeast of Fayetteville.

The plane crashed not far from N. Smokey Bear Road.

Around 6:00 p.m., emergency personnel was requested to the collision site to respond to the wreckage.

According to the sheriff’s office, Tontitown resident Lewis Brant Barnes, 43, was recognized as the pilot of a Beech M35 fixed-wing, single-engine aircraft.

The crash is being looked into by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Aviation Administration has been informed.
