Little Rock, Arkansas – Sen. Linda Chesterfield of Little Rock, Arkansas, who has served in the legislature for many years, is a retired teacher, and the first African-American to graduate from Hendrix College in Conway, stated on Wednesday that she would not seek reelection in 2018.
The District 12 Democrat is in charge of Pulaski County’s south and north sides of the Arkansas River, which is part of Pulaski County.
Chesterfield declared she would endorse Jamie Scott for state representative to take Chesterfield’s place.
After completing three terms in the House of Representatives, Chesterfield was chosen to serve in the Senate in November 2010. She serves as the 94th General Assembly’s Senate Minority Whip, vice chair of the Senate Education Committee, and co-chair of the ALC’s Policy-Making Subcommittee.
