Power outages after tree trimmers drop limbs on the lines in Benton

Little Rock, Arkansas – On Thursday, residents of Benton lost power to their homes, after the utility provider said a tree trimming company dropped limbs on the lines.

According to Benton Utilities, the areas affected are the Timbermist and Spring Creek Subdivisions.

“If nothing is broken, the repairs will not take long too long,” the electric utility provider posted on Facebook. “However, if the infrastructure is broken, it could take a while.”

According to BU, around 2:45 p.m., crews had determined the center phase primary line is down, which could take as many as two hours to fix.

More customers than initially affected will lose power to expedite the repairs, they said.

These outages come at a time when Arkansas and much of the United States remain under a heat advisory.
