Phoenix Avenue lane closure continues through Aug. 11 for sewer line installation

Fort Smith, Ark. – Motorists traveling through Fort Smith should prepare for traffic changes after a temporary street closure was announced for Phoenix Avenue.

According to the Fort Smith Police Department, both eastbound lanes near 4520 Phoenix Avenue will be closed for approximately one week to allow crews to install new sewer lines.

The closure began Aug. 4 and is expected to remain in effect until approximately Aug. 11, although the completion date could change depending on construction progress.

Police advised drivers to plan ahead, expect delays in the area, and use caution while traveling near the work zone.

The Fort Smith Police Department also reminded residents that information about this and other active street closures is available on the department’s website, where motorists can find updates on traffic impacts and ongoing road projects.
