Officer involved shooting on Zero Street under internal review, officials said

Fort Smith, Ark. – Early on Thursday, June 27, around 12:13 A.M., Fort Smith police officers were involved in a shooting incident on Zero Street.

The incident involved a newer model dark-colored Dodge Charger with a spoiler, believed to have sustained damage to the front windshield and hood due to gunfire.

Detectives are actively seeking video surveillance footage from local businesses and residents to identify the vehicle. Once a suitable image is obtained, it will be released to the public via an updated media release.

In accordance with standard procedures, the shooting is undergoing an internal review. The officer involved has been placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The officer’s identity will be disclosed at the conclusion of the review process.
