NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A North Little Rock student was arrested Friday morning after allegedly posting a social media threat indicating plans for a school shooting at North Little Rock Academy.
According to a statement from the North Little Rock Police Department (NLRPD), investigators were alerted to the threat, which specifically named North Little Rock Academy, located at 5500 Lynch Drive, as the intended location of the incident. In response to the threat, law enforcement quickly deployed additional officers to the school to ensure the safety of students and staff while initiating an investigation.
During the course of the investigation, authorities identified 18-year-old Tremell Mahan, a student at the academy, as a potential suspect. Mahan was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. He was transported to the North Little Rock Justice Center, where he was interviewed by detectives.
Following the interview, Mahan was charged with one count of threatening to commit acts of mass violence on school property. He is currently being held without bond at the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility.
