Conwy, Arkansas – Covid-19 cases on Monday slightly dropped on a daily basis, but Arkansas added a record number of deaths in a single day since March.
According to the Arkansas Department of Health report, Arkansas added 621 new positive Covid-19 cases in Monday’s report. The number seems to be much lower compared to weekend’s numbers.
However, a total of 23 deaths were reported and this is the highest daily number of deaths since March.
Currently, there are 14,627 active cases in the state which is 650 less compared to Sunday’s report.
The total number of positive cases since the start of the pandemic now reaches 375,971. The total number of reported deaths as a result of the virus now stands at 6,077.
What bother the health and state officials is the fact that the number of hospitalizations is growing. As of Monday, 980 people are hospitalized in the hospitals across the state which is 61 more compared to the day before. 172 people are in critical condition and are being held on ventilators.
This is what Gov. Asa Hutchinson said on Twitter:
During the first phase of COVID-19, hospitalizations generally went down over the weekend. The increase of 61 hospitalizations on Sunday is a blunt indicator that the Delta Variant is more transmissible & increases the likelihood of hospitalizations if you don’t have the vaccine.
