Texas – Texas authorities took 50-year-old WiIma into custody and charged her with capitaI murder in the death of her chiId, Dav id, 9. The parent is accused of repeatedly stabing him in the neck and chest while he Iay in bed. The case is being investigated by the Texas authorities.
The investigation process began after the victim’s dad called 911 and told dispatchers that his spouse had kiIIed their chiId.
When officers arrived, they encountered a disturbing scene. The father was holding the defendant by the Ieg as she Iay on her back in the hallway, bIood on her shirt. The victim was found unresponsive on his bed, bIeeding from his neck and torso. EMS attempted life-saving measures, and the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from multiple stab wounds to the neck and torso.
The father allegedly told investigators that shortly after arriving home from working the night shift, he heard a scream coming from his son’s room. The door was locked, so he forced it open and found his son’s bloody, lifeless body being held by the woman with one arm. In her other hand, she had a knife, which she then used to stab herself in the chest.
As the father struggled with the woman for the knife, she reportedly told him that ‘this was what he wanted’. While police secured the home, the woman reportedly grabbed a bIade and stabbed herself in the leg. Officers wrestled the knife away and heard her repeating phrases such as “I cannot live without him” and “let me die.” After being treated for her wound, she was transported to a hospital and later booked into the county jail. Her bond was set at $600,000.
The woman reportedly told investigators she believed she was being followed. She reported seeing people with flashlights on her roof and trying to enter her home. She said that strange things had been happening for about two weeks, and she feared her son was being harmed at school. Medina reportedly told officers, “there’s no going back.”
At the hospital, investigators overheard her referring to herself as “trash” and saying that she thought her mother was ashamed of the child’s death. Family members have reportedly advised her to wait for an attorney before speaking further.
Texas authorities emphasized the rarity and severity of the case. Police Chief Simens said during a press conference that no one could have been prepared for what first responders encountered. He stressed that it was one of the most traumatic scenes they had seen.
Investigators noted there had been no prior calls to the residence, and no known history of mental health issues. The investigation is ongoing, and Texas authorities have stated the incident appears to be isolated with no risk posed to the wider community. Counseling services are being offered to students in the relevant school district.
