Man admitted to forcefuIIy strapping his 1-month-old while she squeaIed in pain and breaking the baby’s Iegs by puIIing them with too much force in an effort to make her have a boweI movement, causing severe injuries: police

Texas – A Texas man, 24-year-old RodoIfo, was taken into custody earlier this week and charged with feIony injury to a chiId after a baby in his care was admitted to the hospital with multiple injuries, including seventeen r ib fractures, a torn frenuIum, and leg fractures. Court documents indicate that hospital staff contacted police because the 1-month-old’s injuries were consistent with child abuse.

According to Texas authorities, the parent admitted to becoming frustrated with his child and gripping her too tightly. He also reportedly told police he had pulled her Iegs in an effort to stimulate a boweI movement, resulting in fractures to both her femur and tibia. Additionally, he allegedly said he forcefully strapped the infant into a car seat and she squealed in pain.

The child was taken to the Children’s Medical Center in Texas earlier this month with severe injuries. Doctors discovered signs of prolonged abuse, including at least seventeen rib fractures in various stages of healing, a torn frenulum, bruises, and signs of malnutrition.

Texas authorities said the child’s injuries were consistent with physical abuse and prompted medical staff to contact the local police department. The victim was removed from the defendant’s custody, and after three weeks of care, she was reportedly gaining weight and not suffering additional injuries.

He was booked into the county jail on a $100,000 bond. He faces a first-degree felony charge that carries a possible life sentence under Texas law. Court records show that he was charged with one count of felony injury to a child.

The investigation is ongoing, and Texas authorities have not released further details. The defendant is scheduled to appear in court later this month.

This case highlights the importance of vigilant medical professionals and law enforcement in identifying and responding to signs of child abuse. The swift actions of hospital staff and police have potentially saved the life of a vulnerable infant and brought attention to the serious issue of child abuse.
