Lane closures scheduled on Interstate 55 Bridge over Mississippi River in West Memphis for routine maintenance, officials say

Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Transportation has announced upcoming lane closures on the Interstate 55 Bridge over the Mississippi River in West Memphis to allow for routine maintenance work.

Starting Tuesday, April 29, 2025, through Thursday, May 1, the southbound outside lane of the I-55 Bridge will be closed daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

In addition, northbound outside lane closures are scheduled from Thursday, May 1, through Wednesday, May 7, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Officials emphasized that the maintenance work and scheduled lane closures are weather permitting. Motorists are urged to exercise caution when traveling through the area and to expect possible delays during the maintenance period.

To assist drivers, digital message boards, cones, and additional signage will be in place to provide advance notice of the lane closures. Travelers are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible or allow for extra travel time.

ARDOT reminds the public that this maintenance is essential to ensure the continued safety and functionality of the heavily traveled bridge.
