Arkansas – Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has submitted an additional Major Disaster Declaration to President Donald J. Trump, requesting Public Assistance for communities impacted by the severe storms and tornadoes that occurred on March 14, 2025.
The devastating weather event resulted in significant infrastructure damage, an overwhelming amount of debris, and hundreds of damaged homes across the state.
Governor Sanders highlighted the ongoing recovery efforts, noting that local governments are still working diligently to repair the damage.
Public Assistance from the federal government is seen as a crucial resource for helping cities and counties fund cleanup and recovery operations.
“We continue to be grateful for President Trump’s leadership and appreciative of the federal government’s assistance during this challenging time,” Governor Sanders said.
She also expressed her confidence in the ability of local leadership to guide their communities through the recovery process, with federal aid serving as a critical supplement to their efforts.
The damage assessment process has now concluded, and Governor Sanders has specifically requested Public Assistance for the following counties: Clay, Greene, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Lawrence, Nevada, Randolph, Sharp, Stone, and Woodruff.
The request covers Public Assistance Categories A-G, which includes funding for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and the repair or replacement of damaged infrastructure.
This declaration is part of the state’s continued efforts to secure the necessary federal resources to help communities rebuild and recover from the devastating tornado outbreak earlier this month.
