Arkansas – Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders highlighted a major steel industry investment in Mississippi County following an announcement from U.S. Steel regarding a new development at its Arkansas operations.
U.S. Steel announced plans to construct a new direct reduced iron (DRI) facility at its Big River Steel Works site in Mississippi County.
Company officials said the investment is intended to strengthen next-generation steelmaking capabilities and expand production at the facility.
Governor Sanders said the continued growth of the steel industry in Mississippi County reflects broader economic momentum in the state.
She also noted that projects of this scale support job creation and long-term investment in Arkansas communities.
In her statement, Sanders pointed to the project as part of ongoing economic development efforts, adding that growth like this will help support future tax reductions and return more money to Arkansas residents.
U.S. Steel described the project as another step forward in advancing its modern steelmaking operations and reinforcing its presence in the region.
