Governor Sanders requests major disaster declaration from President Trump to assist Arkansas communities devastated by tornadoes and severe storms

Arkansas – According to the state officials, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has requested a Major Disaster Declaration from President Donald J. Trump to aid Arkansas communities affected by severe storms and tornadoes on March 14, 2025. The storms caused extensive damage to infrastructure, left overwhelming amounts of debris, and damaged hundreds of homes.

“The destruction caused by these tornadoes is devastating. The Arkansans who lost their homes, businesses, and loved ones in this storm need help to get back on their feet and rebuild,” Governor Sanders stated. “We are thankful for the leadership of President Trump, and I’m submitting this Major Disaster Declaration request and hope we can get additional assistance from the federal government.”

Following a completed damage assessment, the governor is requesting Individual Assistance and U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loans for residents in Greene, Hot Spring, Independence, Izard, Jackson, Lawrence, Randolph, Sharp, and Stone counties. She is also seeking Hazard Mitigation assistance statewide to help communities strengthen their resilience against future disasters.

If approved, the disaster declaration would provide much-needed federal resources to assist residents and businesses in rebuilding after the storm.
