Governor Sanders calls on trustees to make Razorbacks-Red Wolves game an annual tradition at War Memorial Stadium

Arkansas – Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has urged the University of Arkansas and Arkansas State University Board of Trustees to make the Razorbacks and Red Wolves football game a permanent annual event at War Memorial Stadium.

In a letter sent to both boards, Sanders described the first-ever matchup between the two teams as a “historic moment” for Arkansas, the city of Little Rock, and the stadium.

She said the game, long anticipated by fans across the state, united both institutions in a way supporters had hoped for over decades.

“As Governor, a native of Little Rock, and a lifelong football fan, I am calling on you to make this historic matchup an annual event at War Memorial Stadium, in the heart of our state,” Sanders wrote.

She emphasized the stadium’s legacy as a venue where generations of Arkansans have witnessed major sporting events, adding that it should also become home to the Razorbacks-Red Wolves rivalry.

Sanders called on the trustees to work together to establish the matchup as a lasting tradition, offering her support to help secure the effort.
