FSPD investigating after individual sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following shooting on Johnson Street

Fort Smith, Ark. — Fort Smith police are investigating a shooting that occurred late Tuesday night in the 5200 block of Johnson Street.

According to the Fort Smith Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 10:25 p.m. on July 8.

Upon arrival, they located one victim suffering from what appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury. The individual was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) was called to the scene and has taken over the investigation. Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing and further details will be released as they become available.
