Fort Smith, Ark. – The City of Fort Smith, Arkansas, is highlighting a new LED sign installed atop the former Area Agency on Aging building in downtown Fort Smith.
According to Main Street Fort Smith, the sign crowns the historic First Federal Savings & Loan Building, a mid-century modern landmark originally built in 1961.
Officials said the new display replicates the longtime Area Agency on Aging sign that was previously featured on the building for decades.
The structure has recently undergone a multimillion-dollar renovation and now serves as home to the Fort Smith Visitor Center, Regions Bank, ABB World Headquarters, River Valley Democrat Gazette, and Discover Fort Smith.
City leaders described the sign as a new welcoming feature for visitors entering downtown Fort Smith and part of ongoing revitalization efforts in the area.
