Fort Smith, Ark. – The City of Fort Smith announced that downtown parking meters have officially been removed.
The update, shared on August 9, marked the end of an era for the coin-fed meters that had long lined downtown streets.
City officials noted that residents and visitors will no longer need to search for quarters or rush back to feed the meter.
In a lighthearted statement, the city remarked that the meters had served through rain, shine, and even the occasional playful kick when time expired.
