Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department partnered with the Fort Smith Boys & Girls Club and Target to host a Heroes and Helpers event aimed at supporting local children during the holiday season.
During the event, participating children received gift cards and were paired with Fort Smith police officers to shop for items they needed or wanted.
Officials said the initiative provided an opportunity for positive interaction between officers and youth while helping families during the holidays.
The department thanked its community partners for their support and noted that the event helped strengthen relationships while making the season brighter for participating children.
