Fort Smith, Ark. – Fort Smith Police Officer Kyle Newman has returned home as he continues recovering from critical injuries sustained in a line-of-duty shooting on May 17.

The Fort Smith Police Department announced the milestone on June 10, describing Newman’s return home as a significant step forward in a recovery journey that has inspired fellow officers and supporters throughout the community.

According to the department, Newman has demonstrated remarkable strength and determination during the weeks following the shooting while receiving treatment from medical professionals.
