Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department is reflecting on a week filled with community connection and service, highlighted by local support and volunteer efforts.
Last week, officers and staff were treated to a surprise cookout courtesy of Grand Avenue Baptist Church.
Members of the church stopped by the department to grill hotdogs and hamburgers, bringing a welcome boost of appreciation and camaraderie to the team.
The department publicly thanked the church for its generosity, saying the thoughtful gesture was both delicious and deeply appreciated.
Later in the week, Fort Smith Police participated in the Annual United Way Day of Caring — a day dedicated to volunteering and giving back to the community.
Officers joined other local organizations and citizens in rolling up their sleeves to support a variety of projects aimed at improving the lives of Fort Smith residents.
“It’s always an honor to give back and be a part of something bigger than ourselves,” the department shared in a social media post. “We’re grateful to serve a community that shows up for each other.”
The events reflect the department’s ongoing commitment to service beyond the badge, emphasizing their role as active and caring members of the community they protect.
