This graduating class represents a wide range of agencies across the region, including ten officers from Fort Smith, three from Van Buren, two from Fort Chaffee, and one each from Alma, Barling, Crawford County, Franklin County, Sebastian County, and the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith (UAFS). The ceremony marks the culmination of months of intensive training and preparation for these new officers as they prepare to join the ranks of law enforcement.
According to the department, this group of graduates has demonstrated resilience, dedication, and a strong commitment to public service. The academy is designed to challenge recruits physically, mentally, and emotionally, providing them with the necessary tools to protect and serve their communities with integrity and professionalism.
Community members are encouraged to attend the event and show support for the graduating officers. Police officials emphasized that public presence at the ceremony not only honors the hard work of the new officers but also reinforces the vital relationship between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
“This is a proud moment for our department and for every agency represented in this class,” said a spokesperson for the Fort Smith Police Department. “These officers have chosen a demanding path, and they’ve done the work to earn the right to wear the badge. We look forward to the positive impact they will make across our region.”
The Fort Smith Police Department continues to emphasize community engagement and professional development within its ranks. The department expressed its gratitude to the families, instructors, and community partners who supported the recruits throughout their journey.
