Fort Smith, Ark. – The Fort Smith Police Department announced that it will undergo a Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Law Enforcement Site-Based Assessment this month and is inviting the public to provide comments as part of the process.
According to the department, the assessment includes an opportunity for community members to submit comments or ask questions related to the department’s CALEA Law Enforcement Accreditation.
To make participation easier, the department has provided an online public comment portal where residents can share feedback. The portal is available on the Fort Smith Police Department’s website under “About the FSPD” and then “Accreditation,” or directly through the CALEA comment portal.
Officials said comments and questions submitted through the portal should focus specifically on CALEA Law Enforcement Accreditation.
The department noted that the feedback gathered through the portal will help both its administration and CALEA obtain valuable information that can assist in improving services and strengthening its commitment to the community.
